DOJANG RULES
Safety is one of the most important reasons to have and follow dojang rules. Although you have the right to protect your loved ones and yourself, you must never abuse the martial arts. The skills you learn in class can be deadly. When you are taught a new technique, it is a gift to you from your instructor. What you do with this gift will determine if you will be allowed to learn more. As a martial arts student, you must set the highest example for others at all times. Always follow the dojang rules below:
1. Never abuse karate
2. Never show what you have learned to anyone except your parents.
3. Never wear your shoes in the dojang. In bad weather, take your shoes off when you enter the building.
4. Never wear jewelry or other objects in class.
5. Only white ATKI traditional do bohks (uniforms) may be worn from the first promotional testing. If a t-shirt must be worn under the do bohk, it must be white.
6. Always bow when entering and leaving the dojang.
7. No gum, candy or food allowed in class.
8. Arrive fifteen minutes early to warm up before class.
9. Keep your do bohk clean and neat.
10. Groin cups are mandatory for all male students. During sparring, all students must also wear mouth guards, headgear and protective equipment for hands and feet.
11. No sparring without supervision and permission from an instructor.
12. Never ask a senior ranked student or instructor to spar, for it is their prerogative.
13. Raise your hand if you have a question.
14. Practice only those techniques which you have been taught by your instructor.
15. No idle talk in the practice area. Remain quiet and attentive when not practicing.
16. It is your responsibility to keep the dojang clean at all times.
